How to prepare an abstract
- The text of the abstract together with figures needs to fit A4 page.
- Arial font of size 11 needs to be used.
- Title, authors and affiliations need to be included in the abstract.
- The abstract needs to be uploaded as a Word file.
- The text of the abstract needs to be in English.
How to prepare a presentation
The audience have a wide variety of backgrounds and presentations should be of interest to as many listeners as possible. We therefore especially promote presentations of methods.
When presenting, please bear the following in mind:
- The target audience are laypersons in your special field of research. You should draw their interest.
- Present the goals of your research in a way that is generally understandable.
- Emphasize the methods.
- The presentation needs to be in English.
How to prepare a poster
- Please bring your posters in portrait format A0 (84,1 cm x 118,9 cm or 33.1 inches x 46.8 inches).
- The text of the poster needs to be in English.
Don’t forget to print your poster before your trip.
Best poster for Life Science and Material Science category will be selected.
Both categories will be awarded with 100 €.
Image Competition
The best three images will receive small prizes and will be featured on the ASEM homepage in the next years.
- Each participant may submit one image taken with an Electron Microscope. Artistic coloration, diffraction patterns, … every contribution is welcomed!
- Images should be sent to asem-workshop-2026@ista.ac.at
- Please include a title and assign a category (Life Science or Materials Science)
- Images must be suitable for print and web use: 300 DPI, with a minimum resolution of 2480 × 3508 pixels (A4 at 300 DPI; portrait or landscape equivalent)
- The best three images will receive small prizes; the first-place image will additionally win the Image Competition Prize and all three will be featured on the ASEM homepage
- Everybody participating will retain the copyright to their images
- Submission deadline: April 1, 2026
